Over the last few months I have been working on a few things :
LESSONS
With a nice regular group of students I am enjoying lessons, but they keep me on my toes with requests to learn everything from PRIMUS, RUSH, country and fusion. But what I enjoy the most is working on skills with students (like sight reading, musical theory and technical techniques) so that they can learn any song by themselves.
I have also been working with one student on improving the delivery of Online lessons. Previously I have used ZOOM which is OK but the sound quality is not great - so we are working on switching to JamKazam which is a dedicated musicians jamming and teaching online tool.
MY PLAYING
In terms of my own playing - Lori-Ann and I have reconnected with some old time bandmates of mine and are putting together a cover band called Southern Sounds. Rehearsals have been a lot of fun and it will be exciting to get out and play some gigs.
I have also been focussing more on sight reading - as a result my own sight reading is improving - who would have thought what practise can achieve !
